Position Overview:
Long Bay Beach Resort is seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Controller to oversee and manage the resort’s financial operations. The ideal candidate will lead the
finance team with strategic insight and ensure the resort’s financial integrity through
accurate reporting, effective internal controls, and strong fiscal management. This is a key
leadership role that partners closely with the General Manager to achieve the resort’s
financial and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and coordinate general accounting and related financial activities.
- Supervise the daily operations of the Finance team which comprises of a Finance
Manager, Cost Accountant, Staff Accountant and Accounts Officer. - Oversee the finance department, ensuring smooth and compliant financial
operations. - Prepare end-of-month journals, perform monthly closings, and ensure timely
financial reporting. - Collaborate with the General Manager to align financial planning with the resort’s strategic goals.
- Prepare and review annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and financial operating
results. - Ensure all financial transactions are accurate and comply with local regulations.
- Prepare and submit timely management reports and ensure adherence to all
reporting deadlines. - Implement, monitor, and improve accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard the resort’s assets.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Maintain financial ledgers and accounting processes in accordance with the best
practices. - Generate and analyze monthly P&L statements and Balance Sheets.
- Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Use financial analysis, data trends, and market intelligence to identify risks and
opportunities, and recommend strategic actions. - Conduct weekly hotel audits and report discrepancies.
- Prepare and present Monthly and Annual Management Accounts.
- Produce and review weekly and monthly forecasts with hotel management.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly and review findings with the
General Manager. - Lead the preparation of annual operating budgets and support departmental
reviews. - Analyze and report variances between actual performance, budget, and
forecasts, recommending corrective measures as needed. - Ensure the finance team meets all daily and monthly accounting deadlines.
- Ensure all finance activities meet internal standards and policies.
- Coordinate with external and statutory auditors to support annual audit activities.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the finance team, promoting performance,
accountability, and development. - Report directly to the General Manager
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Accounting designation (ACCA, CA, CGA, or CMA).
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in hospitality financial management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospitality-focused PMS and accounting
systems such as QuickBooks and ClockPMS. - Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in Caribbean hospitality operations is highly desirable.
