Position Overview
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager with the overall operation of the island, ensuring efficiency, excellence, and professionalism of all departments on the island. The Assistant General Manager should possess a keen understanding of luxury hospitality, demonstrate effective leadership, and oversee seamless five-star service and operations for guests from arrival to departure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the general manager with the daily operations of the island, hotel and its guests.
- Oversee assigned department heads alongside the general manager.
- Provide service suggestions with a goal to improve the hotels’ standards.
- Greet guests upon arrival and meet their stay expectations.
- Assist with guest check-outs and settling of their bills.
- Manage schedule with guest arrivals/departures, activities and off-island excursions.
- Identify and record special dietary needs, notifying the kitchen as required.
- Communicate and post daily lunch and dinner menus, alternative selections, and seating chart.
- Oversee evening cocktail service, ensuring guest comfort and satisfaction.
- Oversee dinner service and the quality of food leaving the kitchen.
- Organize weekly events, such as movie nights, Beach BBQs, Orchard dinners, guided hikes and other special events.
- Be flexible and prepared to undertake additional tasks requested by management.
- Assist in team training and development.
- Assist in the management and development of the procurement process and the associated inventory.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience in a similar position, or multiple years as a food and beverage or operations manager.
- Experience in luxury resorts and/or hotels.
- Extensive knowledge of beverages and beverage service.
- Overseas or Caribbean experience is an advantage.
