Position Overview
The Jitney Driver will be responsible for safely transporting guests around the island in an open-air jitney vehicle. More than just a driver, this individual will act as a friendly host and informal tour guide, sharing fun facts, interesting stories, and helpful information about the island, its amenities, and daily activities. The ideal candidate has a gregarious personality, strong communication skills, and a passion for hospitality and storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate the island jitney to transport guests between villas, beaches, restaurants, and activity areas.
- Engage guests in lively and informative conversation during rides, offering insight into the island’s history, natural environment, and daily events.
- Provide personalized recommendations on activities and excursions.
- Maintain a cheerful, professional demeanor that reflects the island’s luxury service standards.
- Ensure the jitney is kept clean, charged or fueled and in excellent working order; report maintenance needs promptly.
- Monitor guest needs and proactively offer assistance (e.g., helping with luggage, coordinating with activities coordinator or guest services, etc.).
- Communicate clearly with other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and transportation guidelines.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Previous experience in guest services, tour guiding, or hospitality strongly preferred.
- Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the local area, wildlife, and culture, or a willingness to learn and share.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically able to sit for extended periods and assist with guest luggage as needed.
- A genuine love for meeting people and enhancing their vacation experience.
